Give me liberty…

Over the past several days we’ve been on this challenge called celebrate freedom. This challenge was pretty much created to figure out why we get so excited about Independence Day. Not the historical reason, but our individual reasons…Here’s what we’ve discovered so far.

DAY 1:

We hold these truths to be self-evident. That all (wo)men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights. Among these, Life, Liberty & The Pursuit of Happiness!

Ok…that’s about all that I can remember from history class. What I do know is that we were created to be free. Created to pursue life, not just survive; to pursue liberty, not be held captive by our mistakes, circumstances or negative thoughts; and to pursue happiness!

So if this is the case…why aren’t we?

Can we really celebrate & declare independence if we are bound to the very thing that should be causing us to celebrate? This challenge is about helping you break free from feeling captive to the fork, captive to the scale, captive to any negative response you get when you look in the mirror!

Today we declare our freedom and and we declare that we are determined to pursue Life, Liberty & Happiness!

Each day a new challenge will be posted… But you are the driving force behind this.

You tell me what you want to pursue and I will create the challenge.

 3 areas to declare:

Spirit/Soul/Body…for the rest of this declaration read on

Day 2: Courage Under Fire

It’s Hot Outside! I was laughin the other day when it was a sweltering 94 and realized I could go in the house or jump in the pool and cool…

Day 3: Right to bare arms…

Now before you go screamin’ at me…it’s a play on words. If you chose to carry a weapon, don’t go swingin’ it around actin’ like you’re…

Day 4: LIFE – note to self

Well if I come across a little bit distant it’s just because I AM Things just seem to feel a bit different, you understand   Believe it or…

(1 Cor. 6:12-20) “Everything is permissible for me” – but not everything is beneficial.”Everything is permissible for me” – but I will not…

So often I have heard women say “I just need something to keep me disciplined, I don’t have the discipline to eat healthy & exercise”…OH CONTRARE MON FRARE! You do have DISCIPLINE it’s what has kept you determined to not eat the foods that are better for you, or even go one step further after you’ve made the decision to eat healthy, to stick with it. It’s discipline that keeps you from exercising, determined to not do what you don’t want to do and do what you want to…to say I’m free to do as I please. But see, everything even deciding to not eat healthy, deciding to not exercise, deciding to continue to think negatively about yourself; is permissible, but it’s certainly not beneficial.

Let’s look at the other part of the definition of LIBERTY: (def) freedom from captivity, confinement, or physical restraint. That’s reason to celebrate your freedom!

Today’s workout…

CORE STRENGTH (because the core of anything is where life exists, it’s what keeps you together, it’s where everything vital to you being alive, breathing, standing and functioning lives. It’s your powerhouse) For your arms, legs and head to move FREELY you MUST have a strong core!

SET 1:

PLANKS-go ahead get it out now moan, sigh, moan groan

Position yourself in a plank on your toes and forearms hold for 10 seconds

transition into a push up (knees are fine) complete 5 push ups

repeat 5 times

SET 2:

stand with feet shoulder width apart, begin to squat slide right foot behind you diagonally to your left and lower your body into a curtsy.

Slowly begin to return to your starting position, lift your right knee out to the side and hold for 2 seconds.

In our attempts to gain liberty consider the wisdom of restraint.

As you celebrate this holiday weekend, think about the declaration: Life, Liberty and…the pursuit of Happiness…stay tuned I’ll post that tomorrow so be sure to come back. For now, what’s your declaration for Life and Liberty?
