Holiday Body Challenge:Hunger vs. Appetite

Quite often we feed insatiable appetites and aren’t even hungy…

What’s Hunger: 1. A strong NEED or DESIRE for food 2. Craving for food
What’s an Appetite: 1. A Craving or strong DESIRE for food.

NOTE**CRAVING: An intense longing; **DESIRE: 1. to long for, wish for, to CRAVE, to request or ask; to have a SEXUAL appetite!!!

You ever go to hand someone a bite or taste of something you’ve been indulging in or raving over and just as they open their mouth to sink into the yumminess you snatch it away. Inevitably you continue this charade til your belly is full of  joy and laughter eventhough they are beyond frustrated with you and the whole immature game? LOL Their mouth is so ready for this food that they begin to salivate because they know what it’s gonna taste like! The appetite is ready and willing…kinda  Pavlov right? Hold that thought…

Anyway, a while ago we did the Back to Basics self-discovery challenge (Eat, Pray, Love) and we were talkin’ about  food.  I got to thinkin’ …we are all, or have been at some time, hungry, craving, emotional eaters, closet munchers, bingers, extremists (NO CARBS, ONLY PROTEINS, NO GLUTEN, NO MEAT etc) for whatever reason or another.

Whatever pattern of eating we’ve adopted; misguided and left to our own devices it eventually becomes harmful to not only our bodies but our soul as well.

Consider for a moment that we jump on board the latest belly-flattening trend because we are ABSolutely certain this is for us, this is the plan we’ve been waiting for and FINALLY we can get a handle on how to eat. So we jump in head first! Or should I say mouth first! Isn’t it safe to say that it’s more of a craving or desire to finally be satisfied. Whether satisfied with food you enjoy, satisified with the external results, or satisfied with the feeling of accomplishment.

…for those of you just tuning in. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness (God’s approval), they will be satisfied. Matt 5:6

Todays challenge is Cardio intervals:

If you’re hungry for improving your health, then you must feed it. Bon Apetite!

(go-to motivation)

Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And delight yourself in abundance. Isaiah 55:2

From the fruit of his mouth a man’s stomach is filled; with the harvest from his lips he is satisfied Prov 18:20—Whole new perspective on “Eat your words”

(Philippians 3:17-19)  17Dear brothers and sisters, pattern your lives after mine, and learn from those who follow our example. 18For I have told you often before, and I say it again with tears in my eyes, that there are many whose conduct shows they are really enemies of the cross of Christ. 19They are headed for destruction. Their god is their appetite, they brag about shameful things, and they think only about this life here on earth.
