(cue Frannie: I lost my keys in the great unknown, and call me please cuz I can’t find my phone…this is the stuff that drives me crazy, this is the stuff that’s gettin’ to me lately, in the middle of my little mess, I forget how big I’m blessed.
Y esterday I FINALLY watched The Notebook in it’s entirety and WOW I found the story of my marriage. We were so close to losing each other and our lives would have been so much different. I almost gave up on true love for what Noah called ‘security=money’. And it even touched closer to home now because my MIL in suffering from Demesia and we believe my FIL experiences those 5 minute glimpses of his sweetheart and then nothing.
One of my favorite lines in the movie was when Noah says “But this is us, we do fight, and we get on eachothers nerves and we get through it. But I want that. I want you, all of you forever” Oh how my heart melted. Talk about the STUFF. Move over “Had me at hello” gimme that. But you know, it made me realize that I do have that. I have the stuff, the gettin’ on each others nerves, the losing my keys and him lookin’ at me as if to say WOMAN! And nothing else.
But I also have a man that still melts my heart when I look at him. A man that is the greatest example of what being a man of God looks like. A man who tirelessly will make of fool of himself just to get a good belly laugh from our kids. A man who literally felt like he had put our kids at risk and couldn’t help them (he cried yall) after his jet ski wiped out and they were stranded in the middle of the Caribean Ocean waiting for the banana boat rescue guys. THIS is my STUFF! And a fine stuff he is might I add!
This is the stuff…Might not be what I would chose but this is the stuff God used!
1 Corinthians 1:27-29 26 Remember, dear brothers and sisters, that few of you were wise in the world’s eyes or powerful or wealthy[g] when God called you. Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful. 28 God chose things despised by the world,[a]things counted as nothing at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world considers important. 29 As a result, no one can ever boast in the presence of God.
