Thankful Thursday: What you have in your hand

I forget what I have until someone asks me to share it. Sometimes we get a glimpse of what we have and want to keep it all to ourselves. Other times we don’t KNOW what we have, wish someone would appreciate it only to find that we’re holding it so tight, it’s untouchable.

I spent some time today just really considering “what I have in my hand” wondering, questioning, planning, doubting, re-considering, questioning again, and finally came to the conclusion that I didn’t really know what I had because I was hoping for something more yet didn’t appreciate what I already had.  Then someone out of no where asked me for some of what I had.

From my heart of hearts, I gave what I had.


So the Lord said to Moses, “What is that in your hand?” (As if God didn’t already know).  Moses answers astutely, “A rod.”

Even Moses doubted that what he had in his hand was worth anything. God used the ordinary to do extraordinary. Ultimately God has a plan.

What’s in your hand?

I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. Philippians 4:12
