Back To Basics: Live beyond the what if’s

Today’s Back to Basics post is inspired by my friend the fitness cheerleader  and her month long writing prompt inspirations “Healthy Living/Fitness Blogger challenge”.

My biggest WHAT IF today is earmarked by the first day of school.

This is a milestone year for our family. 1 heading off to college, 1 starting middle school and one finishing out her final year of elementary school. WOW. What if, this day was never here.

What if on those days when I sat and cried and asked God why me because I was clueless as to how I was gonna be a mom at 19 years old and in college; what if I had said NO.

I wouldn’t have today.

What if realizing I was about to be a mom for the 3rd time only 18 months after giving birth to a second child, was too overwhelming.

I wouldn’t have today.

What if at 28 years old, a wife and stay at home mom of 3 young children had given into post partum depression rather than letting go of her failed expectations and crying out to Christ to rescue her.

I wouldn’t have today.

I can’t help but think about the song “Blessings” by Laura Story

“What if trials of this life are Your (the Lord) mercies in disguise”

Today I ask what if, what if I stop trying to figure out why and start asking God what He’s teaching me. If I listen, I just might hear His blessing.

What if you considered the same?

  1. Thanks, Amia , “The What Ifs” are very real and soul searching it allowed me to reflect and receive. It placed me back in a time of hurt and unpleasantness, but through it all I survived ,( Thank you, my heavenly father.) I too also experienced post partum depression. This really gave me a new reflection on the past , as well as the future.

  2. I’m so thankful I clicked on your post!!! Too often I question God in the hard times of life but you are right…I would miss the blessings! I need to focus on what He is teaching me! Thank you for sharing this!! That song is one of my favorites!!!
