– Don’t Skip Breakfast
When you’re trying to lose weight, cutting out breakfast may be tempting. You figure you’re saving yourself some calories and you get a couple extra minutes to snooze. But research has consistently shown that the people who successfully lose weight are the ones that wake up and eat! Furthermore, people who eat breakfast regularly have better vitamin and mineral status and eat fewer calories from fat. So it seems that breakfast really is the most important meal of the day.
Do you want to have your cake and eat it too? “Cook Yourself Thin,” an all-new series, offers viewers the skills and the confidence to give their favorite indulgent meals a healthy makeover by cutting the calories and doubling the flavor!
Power Smoothie Recipe
Fuel your powerhouse with this great MEAL REPLACEMENT or POST WORKOUT smoothie recipe (borrowed from a friend but I definitely tried it and it’s surprisingly tasty-I opted to nix the coconut)
Before you get grossed out, just hear me out. Since my clean eating doesn’t permit me to indulge in this amazing dessert everyday, I had to come up with something close to it.
My taste buds were more than pleased! It tasted delicious!
No worries. You will not taste the Red Kidney beans or the spinach. They will simply add texture and nutrition to your power smoothie. My daughter (8yrs old) tried it and LOVED it!!!
This is a great meal replacement or post workout recovery smoothie, so drink up!
Ingredients: 1 scoop of Chocolate or Vanilla protein powder 1 cup of mixed berries 1/2 cup of Red Kidney Beans 1 Tablespoon of Shredded coconut 1 Tablespoon of Honey or Sweetener 1 Handful of Spinach
Preparation: Get your blender out. Pour a little bit of water on the bottom to avoid clumping of protein. Dump all ingredients in, throw in some ice and blend away!
Feel free to add other nutritional ingredients to the mix. I love adding some flaxseeds, hemp seeds or even some Glutamine powder to boost my muscle recovery after a tough workout.
